Surviving Super Bowl Sunday

With Super Bowl this weekend, thought we would do an update to last year’s post.
A reader asked for some suggestions to surviving the Superbowl party. For lots of people this is a big eating binge day, and you don’t want to sabotage all your hard work, so you need to plan. If you are at the party and hungry with no food options, it will be hard to stay on your Advocare program. Ditch the pizza and wings, and use this method to stay on plan and wake up happy on Monday morning.
Offer to bring a main dish like chicken ratatouille or some snacks.
Snack ideas:
- Large tray of fresh veggies (carrots, baby cucumbers, mushrooms, broccoli, red/ orange/ yellow peppers, etc.) You can bring some humus and guacamole (made from mashing the avocados with spices and adding a little chopped tomato). You need to use the humus and guacamole sparingly yourself, and fill up on the veggies.
- Bring a bowl of my favorite tuna/egg salad so you can have a scoop with your veggies, or simply bring a platter of hard boiled eggs or deviled eggs made with Hellman’s canola mayo and Dijionaise mustard.
- Unsalted raw almonds are always good, but don’t overdo.
- A big platter of freshly sliced fruit and berries will be a great option so you won’t feel deprived at dessert time.
And be sure to mix a few pitchers of different flavors of Spark and serve on the rocks!
And just in case you need it, bring some Carb-Ease.
What ideas do you have for this Superbowl and other parties?
