Eating Out On Advocare 24 Day – Tip 1
Posted on 24. Aug, 2010 by Healthy Girl in General Info, Recipes, Recipes & Food
I have lots of tips for success when eating out during the 24 Day Challenge. Today I reveal my favorite meal for eating out in a restaurant during the cleanse or the balance of the 24 Day Challenge. This works in many restaurants.
Order grilled salmon (or other fish) with no starch and a double order of veggies. You can add fresh fruit (naked) for dessert if desired. Here is how I order it. I ask to have the salmon grilled with no oil, butter or sauce (the natural omegas in salmon keep it plenty moist, and I don’t want to risk them drowning the fish in oil or even worse, butter). I ask to have my veggies steamed with no butter or oil or sauce. That way you get fresher veggies that have not been sitting in oil in a saute pan.
As easy as this sounds, I was only having 60% chance of getting what I really wanted until I adopted the following strategy. I tell the waitperson ahead of time that “I apologize that I am going to be difficult”, or that “I have have food restrictions”, and say I hope he/she can help me out. This has really helped improve the chances of getting it right, except when the waitress asked me what “steamed” was. Yikes – no help there! When I asked her to check after she said there were none, I did actually did get the order. She pushed a bowl of veggies at me and said ” your steamed veggies, ha!”
Remember, it is your choice what you put in your body. You don’t have to eat things that you don’t want while you are tying so hard to achieve success and be healthy.

What do I do if I can’t handle the meal replacement shakes? Can’t get them down! 🙁
Healthy Girl

@ Jamy,
You mean they are too thick? You can add more water. We love them – flavored by Häagen-Dazs. If you don’t like the flavor, trya another. Our fave is vanilla.

I am on the 10 day clease part of the 24 day challenge. I lost 3.9 lbs from day 1-4. I woke up this morning (day 5) and gained 1.8 back. I eat 1000-1200 calories a day and only 4oz of protien 2-3 times a day. I eat carbs and fruit only on the refule days I am litterally following the rules as I am supposed to and I don’t know why I would do so well and then back track.

@ Crystal,
We do the 24 Day Challenge, and then maintenance on this site. It is about following the instructions as opposed to counting calories.

This is our 6th day on the challenge and I’m running out of meal options. IS there somewhere on the internet that gives more ideas??? also I was told NO SALT. But dont seem to see it in writing any where, is this allowed or not?
Healthy Girl
18. Mar, 2012
@ Carrie,
You can have salt, but it should be limited amounts. Excess sodium will cause you to retain water. Look at suggestions here https://advotips.com/updated-grocery-guide/

in your comments you say for people to avoid eating pasta… however… in reading the booklet that comes with the 10 day cleanse it says that you can have pasta, breads, and rice in the WHOLE GRAIN form…. and says to avoid white rice and white bread? Also, it doesn’t state anywhere in the packet to avoid dairy?
Healthy Girl

@ Ruby,
The advice here is the method our group has used for success and quickest results.

Can I have my morning and afternoon snack options with my meals instead of eating them at the specific intervals? I feel like it would give me more options for recipes…I’m tired of just lemon juice or vinegar on my salad. I’d like to make a dressing with avocado blended into it.
Healthy Girl
06. Mar, 2012
@ Carrie,
Not sure what you are putting in the dressing besides avocado?

Take thermoplus AFTER the cleanse phase. Are you following the plan as on the instructions? https://advotips.com/instructions-and-checklists/

Can you eat whole wheat pasta or rice pasta? And should these be avoided in phase 1? Also if I’m a vegetarian, are beans ok for protein or ate you counting those as a carb?
Healthy Girl

No pasta. The beans would count as the complex carb. Use tofu, also eggs if you eat them.

Hello,
Strange on the green tea, as page six of the 10 day program for foods to eat and foods to avoid. Is shows herbal tea as something to have? Can you explain?
thank you,
RJ
Healthy Girl
18. Jan, 2012
@ RJ,
Best results are using water and Spark., but decaf tea once a day is acceptable. Green tea has caffeine.

Have a girlfriend that wants to do the 24 day challenge, but has peanut allergies and the Shakes have the warning on them. Can she substitute something for the shake? The bars have the same warning.
Healthy Girl
08. Jan, 2012
Bars are for after the 24 Day, and are a convenience, not a necessary item. Berries and hard boied eggs work for the breakfast if there is an issue. A double portion of Muscle Gain could help.
Christy
07. Jan, 2012
Does it need to be hard boiled eggs? Is there something special about the type or consistency of the eggs?
Healthy Girl
07. Jan, 2012
The good thing about hard boiled eggs is that you haven’t added anything to them. You can have fried or scrambled with no added milk or butter. Use a nonstick pan and PAM.

Just recieved my Advocare 24 day challange in the mail. I am confused on the specifics though. After reading all these posts its seems as though I am not the only one. Why isn’t there more specific instructions in the kit? I realize you can find alot of info on the site but there are links to other things on each page and I keep getting off track. The web site is a great tool, but it just seems that there should be more specific details with the kit! I was so excited to get going but unfortunatly I feel as though it will take me a few days to get through the site and links to get all the information to set myself up for success!

I am starting my 24 day challenge next Monday. How often should I be drinking the Spark? My package came with a total of 28 packets. Will I have to order more before the 24 days are over?
Healthy Girl
05. Aug, 2011
Becca,
Most people use 1-2 Sparks per day. You can order more Spark. My favorite is Pink Lemonade. 🙂 Many people enjoy the economy of ordering a canister as it is cheaper than the individual packets.

I”ve purchased several extra supplements and I have no idea when to take them. I bought Thermoplus, Catalyst, and Leptilean. When do I take them? Do I use them during days 1-10? 11-24? Or after the 24 day challenge?
Healthy Girl
03. Aug, 2011
@Tiffany twice a day on an empty stomach half hour before a meal – 3 capsules
Add 1 thermoplus to this starting on Day 11
Leptilean after the challenge.

Chicken, turkey, tofu. Ground turkey is fine – just don’t add breadcrumbs. Seasoning is fine. Look at the recipes and meal suggestions.

Why no milk or milk products during the cleanse? That’s an essential part of any diet, right?
Healthy Girl
22. Jun, 2011
@ Barry
During the 10 day cleanse we eliminate foods that are known to be inflammatory to many people (wheat, coffee, dairy, alcohol, yeast, soda), and add more foods and supplements that may help reduce inflammation (Omega 3’s, fruits, veggies, water).

I know this plan is not about counting calories, but how many calories should we be seeing if we eat according to plan. I’m a big girl 5’9 x 186# and this 1000 – 1200 calorie thing is draining me. According to my body weight and height, I should be shooting for about 1600 for optimal weight loss (according to MyFitnessPal.com). Can I have more food please? I am exhausted on day 8 of the cleanse.
Healthy Girl
16. Mar, 2011
Like you said, it is not about calories. You should be eating 3 meals and 2 snacks. Look at the instructions and suggestions. http://www.advocaretips.com/program-instructions/

Started the 24 day Challenge today. I am still a bit confused on how to do everything. I have printed off the directions and read them over and over. Basically this is how my day started. I took the fiber drink first thing in the morning, drank several glasses of water through out the morning, had an apple mid morning, more water and then a grilled chicken salad for lunch. I then had spark and 3 catalyst mid afternoon. Later on had some celery sticks and an apple with 2 tablespoons of peanut butter. I was starving between apple and lunch, amazingly I am not hungry after the snack in the afternoon and before dinner. I am looking for ideas for breakfast, lunch, snack and dinner. Do I do meal replacement shakes?
I am not a huge fish eater but can manage tuna salad. Is sour cream ok or not during the cleanse. I want to do this right, just not sure what I should be eating exactly or drinking. I am afraid I will get bored with water after a few days.

Ann,
You are not eating enough, and there are specific instructions for each phase. Please review and download the instructions http://www.advocaretips.com/program-instructions/ and other areas on the site. No dairy on the first 10 days during the cleanse.

You should feel it now, but everyone is different. Are you using the products as instructions say? Are you drinking the Spark and eating enough? You shouldn’t be hungry. Feel free to email using the contact us form and tell me what you are eating and drinking.
